How to Spot a Fake Email from USAA
How do you know when a email is fake? How do you know when an email is phishing for your private data? Here's a quick way to get a good idea of where the email really came from.
Bear in mind that some email may come from a company contracted by the real sender to send bulk mail. With a little common sense and two keystrokes you can generally tell if your looking at a fake email from USAA or any other company. Here's how.
Here's the fake email from USAA

How to Find Out If An Email Is Fake
If your running Microsoft Outlook 2007 in Preview mode like I am then do this:
1) Right Click the email message

2) Select Message Options
3) Review The Email Message Header Content
As you can see above and below the return path and the "Received: From" lines show servers which are located outside the United States. Clearly not a location that USAA would send email from.
I just received this phishing email from our non filtered email account and wanted to post this for others to see in the hopes you will not fall for this type of trickery.
